Like artists throughout history, they find inspiration in the richness, diversity, and symbolic potential of plants and animals. However, the work of these artists showcases a darker side of nature, by highlighting the increasing control exerted by humans, with a particular emphasis on the negative aspects of our interference. The resulting works encourage us to consider our own relationship with the natural world and to ponder the potential implications of our recent explorations into genetic testing and cloning. Artists in the exhibition include Alastair Bolton, Cheryl Coon, Lauren Davies, Susan Felter, David Hevel, Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor, Misako Inaoka, Ernest Jolly, Michael McConnell, Stephanie Metz, Paul Paiement, Jane Rosen, John Slepian, Kathryn Spence, Tara Tucker, Sarah Wagner, and Gail Wight. 2008 Triton Museum Santa Clara, California Group Exhibition Curated by Helayna Thickpenny April 5 - June 22, 2008 Reception: Friday, April 11 State University of New York Tower Fine Arts Gallery Brockport, New York Endoskeletal / Exoskeletal Curated by Jennifer Hecker January 30 - February 27, 2008 Reception: Thursday, January 30 Euphrat Museum Cupertino, California Group Exhibition September 30 - October 30, 2008 The Pouch Cove Foundation Newfoundland, Canada Artist Residency August 2008 Community School of Music and Art Mohr Gallery Mountain View, California Conceptually Bound Curated by Nanette Wylde April 1 - May 26, 2008 2007 The Rooms Gallery St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada Hot Wax Curated by Andria Hickey October 12, 2007 - January 6, 2008 Artists: Aganetha Dyck, Tony Scherman, Nicole Collins, Timothy McDowell, Maggie Simonelli, Eric Blum California State University, Chico University Art Gallery Chico, California Conceptually Bound Curated by Nanette Wylde November 13 - December 16, 2007 Root Division San Francisco, California Systems & Transmutations Curated by Michelle Mansour February 9-28, 2007 Reception: Saturday, February 10, 2007, 7-10pm Artists: Anna Bogatin, Vanessa Blaikie, Dan Cox, Jeff Eisenberg, Leo Estevez, Theresa Ganz, Amy Hicks, Rachael Jablo, David O’ Johnson, Keira Kotler, Katie Lewis, Michelle Mansour, Lisa McCutcheon, Moira Murdock, Toban Nichols, Jenna North, Bernardo Poggi-Leigh, Mel Prest, Mark Ruxin, Laura Shipp, Ray Souder, Lisa Stoneman, Amber Stucke, Maria Vasconcelos, Sarah Walker, Liz Walsh 25th Avenue Gallery San Mateo, California Minute Observations January 5 - February 27, 2007 Solo Exhibition 2006 Polymer Culture Factory Katlamaja, Estonia Unfurled Curated by Marisa Jahn & Steve Shada May 1 - June 15, 2006 Artists: Deric Carner, Elizabeth Beer & Brian Janusiak, Marc Cooley, Harrell Fletcher, democratic innovation, Max Hattler, Reuben Lorch-Miller, Otto von Busch, Forster David Rudolph, Kevin Radley, Rigo, Mike Henry, Kevin Radley, Shannon Spanhake, Jackie Sumell, Jeannene Przyblyski for the San Francisco Bureau of Urban Secrets, Randall Sinner, Sirja Liisa Vahtra, Michael Swaine Needle Art: A Postmodern Sewing Circle Curated by Carrie Lederer Webber Center Gallery June 16 - August 11, 2006 Ocala, Florida DePaul University Art Museum April 6 - May 25, 2006 Chicago, Illinois Hope College, DePree Art Center January 28 - March 16, 2006 Holland, Michigan Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council November 10, 2005 - January 7, 2006 Texarkana, Texas Femina Potens Gallery San Francisco, California Under the Microscope Sherry Koyama, Cheryl Coon, Lucrecia Troncoso May 5 - 26, 2006 Reception: Friday, May 5 at 7pm 1078 Gallery Chico, California Solo Exhibition March 10 - April 1, 2006 Reception: Friday, March 10 Morehead State University Claypool-Young Art Gallery Morehead, Kentucky Fragmentations Curated by Jennifer Reis January 25 - February 24, 2006 2005
